The ViewPoint Proactive Network Maintenance (PNM) Module is specifically designed to provide the NOC (Network Operation Center) the capability to use your cable modems as troubleshooting devices by analyzing their pre-equalization data for any indication of potential impairments in your outside plant.

By using active cable modem data, operators can automatically identify potential problems affecting their upstream and work to correct these issues before they impact customers.

Search and Trending Capabilities

The PNM Module gives managers and technicians the ability to search out the “X” amount of worst performing modems using continuously updating report dashboards, which allow you to always be targeting the problem areas within your plant.

Along with these extensive search capabilities, the dashboards within the PNM Module use custom color-coded metric summaries to highlight specific trends or problems affecting a node, which is useful when trying to diagnose reoccurring problems that may be affecting your modems.

Simplified Linear Distortions Testing

The PNM Module uses headend and cable modem pre-equalizer tap values to calculate several key performance metrics and display the taps, in-channel response, and group delay graphs. These metrics are used to automatically classify the severity of group delay and microreflection impairments present in the upstream and identify the distance to faults.

Automated Severity Classification

The key performance metrics calculated by the PNM Module are also analyzed over time to identify whether impairments are related to trending or intermittent behaviors. The PNM Module also uses these metrics to automatically classify the severity level of impairments and adjust the polling rates for the affected modems.

Group Correlation

To make identification of common path issues even easier on operators, the PNM Module also performs correlation analysis on the linear distortion measurements for all modems within the system. This correlation analysis is then used to group together modems that are experiencing similar issues within single nodes, across multiple nodes, or throughout your entire plant.

 

Intelligent Plant Maps

The ViewPoint PNM Module is equipped with an interactive mapping feature that provides the ability to map all of the cable modems within your system. Modems are displayed on the map based on their physical location and are grouped according to their common impairment correlation signatures

The advanced mapping features built-in to ViewPoint provide operators with the ability to import their aerial and underground strand maps. This feature enables correlation of modems with impairments to the location of the devices within the physical plant. In addition to strand maps, the PNM Module can also display plant devices that are tagged with geo-spatial coordinates, such as amplifiers, taps, and power supplies.

Correlation groups also allow supervisors to quickly identify which areas within their plant are experiencing performance issues and how many modems are affected. Selecting a correlation group from the map will automatically display the affected area and the location of every modem that is affected by the common path distortion.

Linear Distortion Metrics

The ViewPoint PNM Module is designed around the ability to analyze the equalizer taps, in-channel response, and group delay values collected from your CMTS and the active modems within your system. The collected data is used to calculate several key performance metrics that are useful in classifying the severity of group delay and microreflection impairments present in the upstream and identifying the distance to faults.

The key performance metrics calculated by ViewPoint are also displayed in a tabular format with color-coded pass/fail results for easy identification of dominant impairment signatures.

This is the ViewPoint Proactive Network Maintenance (PNM) Module Stand-Alone Economy Server Software designed for installation on customer owned server hardware and used for medium to large system deployments.  This package also includes Trilithic’s powerful MIB Performance Indexing (MPI) Module which provides a network based solution for in-depth live monitoring of online cable modems throughout the RF network. This MPI Module provides the basic capability to poll modems in real-time for up-to-date diagnostics information such as: Pre/Post Upstream & Downstream BER, Min/Max Transmit and Receive, and Microreflection Levels.  These metrics are combined into one simplified dashboard and are used to calculate each area's Modem Performance Index.

THE VIEWPOINT ECONOMY SERVER SOFTWARE ALLOWS A MAXIMUM OF TWENTY HARDWARE CONNECTIONS TO THE PNM & MPI MODULES.  THE PNM MODULE REQUIRES A ONE (1), TWO (2), or THREE (3) YEAR RECURRING DEVICE CONNECTION FEE FOR FULL OPERATION OF THE PNM MODULE. A YEARLY MAINTENANCE & SUPPORT FEE APPLIES FOR EACH CUSTOMER SERVER THAT THE VIEWPOINT SERVER SOFTWARE IS INSTALLED ON.  THIS FEE IS REQUIRED ON A YEARLY BASIS FOR CONTINUED OPERATION OF THE SERVER SOFTWARE AND COVERAGE STARTS AT THE BEGINNING OF THE FIRST FULL MONTH AFTER SHIPMENT OF SOFTWARE TO CUSTOMER.

THE VIEWPOINT ENTERPRISE SERVER SOFTWARE ALLOWS A MAXIMUM OF FIVE MILLION HARDWARE CONNECTIONS TO THE PNM & MPI MODULES.  THE PNM MODULE REQUIRES A RECURRING DEVICE CONNECTION AND MAINTENANCE FEE FOR FULL OPERATION OF THE PNM MODULE. ViewPoint Recurring Connection Fee for PNM Module - One (1) Year Period

This is a recurring device connection fee for the quantity of modems included within this quotation to connect to the ViewPoint PNM Module and is valid for an agreement period of one (1) calendar year from the time of activation.  When this license is activated, the PNM Module will provide real-time data collection, measurement, and reporting for each licensed modem over the entire agreement period.  This connection fee must be renewed every one (1) year starting after the first one (1) year of ownership for full operation of the PNM Module.

Customers will be notified of upcoming license expirations directly within ViewPoint along with instructions on how to renew the license.  Additionally, renewal notices and invoices will be sent directly to the main point of contact for the ViewPoint system beginning approximately 90 days before the expiration of the current agreement term and repeating every 30 days until the agreement expires.  Renewals will be invoiced at the same rate as the original agreement for the first three years of ownership.  After the first three years of ownership, Trilithic reserves the right to re-negotiate renewal rates with customers (excluding those in which Trilithic has entered into a master purchase agreement with) to account for changes in market conditions.

If the agreement term expires without renewal, the PNM Module will enter a read-only state that will only allow reporting of historical measurement data collected before the agreement expired.  Additionally, data will not be collected for any previously connected modems and additional modems cannot be added to the PNM module until the yearly connection and maintenance fee has been renewed.  This ensures that all measurement data that was collected within the PNM Module during a licensed period of time will always be available to customers for future access regardless of the current licensing status of the PNM Module.
